Raffling signed football

A question about : Raffling signed football

Hi there

We are running a charity night and have been lucky to enough to have been given a signed football by a very well known football club.

any thoughts on the best way to raise money using this, we thought either a separate raffle or a silent auction but interested to know of any other ideas?

many thanks

Best answers:

  • Just make sure your auction is tightly targetted - right crowd and it's valuable, wrong crowd and it's a spoiled football.

Costing a Consignment from Abroad

A question about : Costing a Consignment from Abroad

Hi

I was wondering if somebody could help me with costing a consignment from China.

If I was to buy a container worth Ј10,000 and for argument's sake everything in that container cost Ј1 each. I assume I would pay Ј2000 VAT on those goods and let's say it costs me Ј100 on duties and Ј500 freight, door to door. In total, the consignment has cost me Ј12600.

Therefore, does that mean each item in the container has cost me Ј1.26 or do I take the 20% VAT off my costings and say each item had cost me Ј1.06.

any good nationwide couriers?

A question about : any good nationwide couriers?

I have a small business and use couriers daily, unfortunately they are costing me a small fortune in lost parcels and customer retention. I have used several over the years and they are only as good as their worst driver. In December, I lost so many parcels I decided to stop dispatching the week before Xmas.

Is there a regulatory body for courier services? Can anyone set up a courier firm, lose parcels and still get paid in full?title=Mad

Completing my VAT return at HMRC

A question about : Completing my VAT return at HMRC

Hello,

Really confused.
Hubby and I have recently set up our own business and are VAT registered. Hubby was previously a sole trader and completed his self assessment online on the HMRC website.
Our Gateway details (to log in) for the new VAT reg company seem to take us to his self assessment details (there is an option to then go to VAT returns).
Can that be right?
Would we as a limited company have the same Gateway number as he had to submit his self assessment as a sole trader?

Quick one regarding lease assignment

A question about : Quick one regarding lease assignment

I am hoping to sell my business. I have a full repairing lease which I want to reassign to buyer. I have always maintained inside the building and landlord outside and major things like boiler and electrics. My buyer will not want to take on the lease as our understanding is not written down. Is there a way round this without huge cost of solicitors? This could be a dealbreaker on the sale. LL does not want to change wording of the lease. Help please!

Registering a new address for a garden office?

A question about : Registering a new address for a garden office?

Wasn't really sure where to post this...

We currently rent an office in a business centre but this is costing us around Ј450 per month (inc vat). As there's currently only two of us, we have been looking at buying a garden building to use as an office instead.

In comparison, it will cost around Ј2600-Ј3000 to buy the building and have electricity connected (fed from the house).
