A question about : Semi/Early Retirement at a young age

I didn't want to post in the Early Retirement Wannabe thread as this is gonna be a long post. I hope thats ok? I joined a few years back but have lurked for some serious time taking in everything the ERW thread has offered up as education.

A question about : AVCs question

My wife is in the Teachers' Pension Scheme, and for the past 21 years has also been paying Ј30 a month into AVCs with the Legal and General (not the Pru, which runs the Teachers AVC scheme).
She had planned to retire at 60 (in 9 years' time), but the Gov't changes raised her retirement age to 65, and early retirement will wipe '000s off the value of her annual pension if she finishes at 60.

A question about : Specified Adult Childcare Credits

My wife gave up work to look after our granddaughter which enabled our daughter to carry on with her career. Just before Christmas my wife applied for HMRC for credits to ensure there were contributions being made to her state pension. This was to cover the tax year to April 2014. All we have had back so far is a letter from HMRC confirming her National Insurance but no confirmation that the payments have actually been made.

Is there anyway we can check that payments are being made to my wife's state pension?

Have worked 5 years beyond retirement and I have been given an estimated choice with my state pension of a Ј36K lump sum + pension or no lump sum with approx. Ј50 per month extra pension.

What would you advise please?

I have just started a new job and I am in a probation period as a result.

I am not registered yet into any pension as a results. I will be when I have passed the probatory period.

Is it common practice? Is it legal?

A question about : Stopping state pension: does the 10.4% extra apply

My wife is 67 and has been receiving her state pension for 7 years. At the time she started taking it we appear to have dropped a bo**ock and did not defer claiming the pension.
I now know that she could stop claiming the pension for a few years so she can earn some extra pension.

My questions are:
1). Does the same extra payment of 10.4% per year exactly as if the pension had been defered from the start?

A question about : Pension Payments

Hi

I'm managing the estate and affairs for an elderly relative and trying to work out if the Dept Work & Pension state pension is paid in advance or arrears. Have not been able to get a clear reply from DWP.

My relative died on the same day as her pension was paid into her bank, hence me needing clarification.

A question about : Protected rights = no TFLS ?

Hi all,

I was having a check through some documents for a deferred Royal Mail Pension.

Background is that I only worked for RM for around 5 years, but because I transferred in 2 x small pensions from previous employers and 1 x personal pension, I actually have 11 years worth of service in pension terms.

( each transfer bought me X years, X months )

That's all pretty standard stuff, but I refreshed myself with the documentation re transfer of the personal pension.
