A question about : Pension advice. Keeping DB or move to AVC

Hi,

Can any of the finance guys confirm what seems clear cut to me?

Have been in a employers career average scheme for the last 5 years, making contributions every month. In addition when I joined the scheme I bought with me a separate pot from an old pension (circa 5k) which was added as an AVC.

I have now come out of that scheme.

A question about : Pension fund on death

If a person who had not yet reached retirement age died recently and had accumulated a pension fund on which they had not yet started to draw, would there be any good reason for postponing the transfer of the value of the fund to the beneficiary (in this case, the spouse) until after 5/4/15?

Hello Martin,
Due to circumstances beyond my control i find myself a single parent. I have a job which i find increasingly more difficult to do due to the demands made upon me by the needs of my children. I have checked with the tax credit agency and i have found that if i gave up my job and did a job with less hours the money i would recieve means that i am currently only Ј40. better off anyway per month.

When it comes to money, finance and budgeting I have quite an extensive knowledge, but unfortunately pensions is a real weak-point.

A question about : Earnings Ј51500 max 40% Tax Rel Pension?

My earnings for this year will be Ј51500 plus around Ј400 savings interest. If my tax code is 590 what is the max I can pay in to my Pension before the end of the tax year and receive 40% tax relief?

An article appeared in the Financial Times 17 November 2014 stating:

Speaking to FTAdviser, the provider was quick to point out that all associated guarantees remain in place, including guaranteed investment returns of up to 5.5 per cent a year and guaranteed annuity rates.

Today a letter to Mrs Sterling from Aegon regarding investment guarantees: Guaranteed minimum return of around 5.5% p.a. for units held to your pension date.
