A question about : Pension review phone call

Hi every one

I'm new to the MSE forum and was just wondering if anyone had received a call from a org calling themselves The Pension Group? I had a call last night from someone asking if I would like a free review of a preserved pension I have, in light of the info in the news about high management charges. I declined their offer but they were quite pushy and nosey!

I am expecting an imminent redundancy payment but would the notice paid in advance be counted as relevant earning

A question about : Early Retirement

Hello, I am hoping to take early retirement next April (2015) at age 62, I have a pension forecast of Ј32.500 lump sum, plus Ј465 a month pension,my wife gets Ј300 a month pension, so would be on nearly Ј800 a month, would we pay any tax on this ?.....plus would I still have to pay N I contributions ?....I have worked for over 40 years.....any help on this appreciated.......Jack.

I have been a Police officer for 12 years and joined on the 1987 Police pension scheme where I was supposed to work for 30 years and pay 11% into the pension scheme.

Following Hutton's pension review where all public sector pensions were grouped together and general recommendations put forward irrespective of the state of any individual scheme. The schemes ranged from non contributory to 11% contributions for Police.

Inflation for OAP's has been measured at 8%, yet supposedly at an all time low for the rest of us.

With around 20 years to go till retirement, it make me realise whilst my pension has some inflation protection, it might not actually be enough.
