Help me decide what shed to buy!

A question about : Help me decide what shed to buy!

Hello All,

I am moving house shortly and will no longer have a garage.

I will need something at least 6x8 to store bikes, gardening stuff etc. Because of the bikes it will need to be good quality and watertight.

My experience of wooden sheds is that they warp and don't last at all long.

Seeds

A question about : Seeds

Lidl seeds now in......cheapest basic 29p a packet. Look for No.1. No's. 2, 3 and 4 are more expensive, still cheaper than mail order.

Fertiliser

A question about : Fertiliser

I havent been able to grow anything at all - not even weeds- on the former hen run. By what I have read and been told, it might be too high in nitrogen. What can I do to counteract this, in the way of adding fertiliser or bonemeal or similar? Want to grow veg there, mainly tatties leeks and turnips.

Budget Garden Office

A question about : Budget Garden Office

Hi all,

Have searched for something on this topic but found nothing as yet - I'm sure I may have missed it so feel free to link.

My boyfriend and I are moving to a new flat in a couple of weeks with a generous back garden (and a front one too!) that is private. He's a journalist and I am a researcher, so we both work from home quite a bit. We're also very seriously considering a lodger in our spare bedroom for a bit of extra moving-in moolah.

need some garden tools

A question about : need some garden tools

We just bought our house in December and it's getting near the time thinks will start growing. We need a lawn mower and I think I shall buy a Bosch.

But also need hand tools. I think first I will buy a spring tine rake to clear up the leaves and a fork for spiking the lawn. Any recomendations?

Will probably get a border spade as well.

DIY plant markers

A question about : DIY plant markers

I'm sure people probably do this already and not a v original idea...but thought I would chip in with it anyway!

being a slightly older lady with a bad memory, at peak planting time I can't remember which batch of seedlings is which, so I make my own plant markers by cutting rectangular strips out of milk cartons and margarine tubs, cutting a pointy end to poke in to the compost/soil, then writing the name of the plant & date of planting in waterproof marker pen.

There's little enough proper gardening shows on UK TV, so I've been scouting the YouTube shows. So far, I've found -
