A question about : mini greenhouses

I am thinking about MSN ways to extend my food growing in a limited space. I am looking at a couple of options bought cold frame, cheap plastic greenhouse or making a small greenhouse out of plastic bottles. Which would you recommend has anyone made a bottle greenhouse?

A question about : Getting rid of ants

I moved into my house 3 years ago. Ever since living here every summer the lawn has been covered with ants nests.

This hasn't really bothered me that much. A few years ago I had a go at trying to get rid of them using a water soluble ant killer but it didn't really do much so gave up. However, I now have a little boy and next summer he will be starting to crawl/walk around so I am concerned about him playing on the lawn and getting bitten.

A question about : Growing Vegetables for Beginners.

Could someone please point me towards a book/youtube video/website that explains how to grow vegetables.

It has to be for an absolute beginner, as I haven't ever planted anything before, not even plants.

A question about : Aldi Fruit Trees Thursday 6th

Title says it all really. The fruit trees are back in for tomorrow, twelve varieties listed HERE on their website although they often seem to have other varieties not listed.

They are cheap and cheerful. Experience shows they are quite well grafted (Homebase uses the same supplier, although that may not be saying much). The rootstocks are dwarfing or semi-dwarfing, leading to a 12 to 14 foot tree after eight years or so. I have a list of rootstocks used for the last 2 years somewhere that I'll try to look out if asked.

A question about : Ideas for a veg patch starter pack gift

Hi,

A couple of friends mentioned to me last year that they wanted to start a veg patch and I wanted to give them a gift to get them started. So far I have 5 Charlotte seed potatoes, 1 pkt of carrot seeds and 1 pkt of lettuce seeds (total cost of Ј1.25 so far).

Can you think of anything else that I might be able to add to it?

A question about : Well Rotted manure

Hi
Can anyone help me by telling me whether this manure is well rotted enough to be spread in the garden. It doesn't smell but I'm concerned that it has bits still in it. Is that normal?

A question about : Glasgow potato day. 2015

Glasgow Potato day is in Pearce institute(840-860 Govan Road) in Govan( diagonally opposite the Govan Underground station) on 22nd Feb., from 11am till 3pm. You can buy small quantities of varieties to try, and you can save on postage for the many varieties(over 45) that are not sold in Glasgow shops. Tea/coffee and home baking available.
