Hi everyone

We have Gas with British Gas and Electricity with First Utility. We are attempting to switch our Gas to First Utility online, but are not finding this an easy task.

nPower refuses to comply with ombudsman's ruling

A question about : nPower refuses to comply with ombudsman's ruling

For the past 8 months I've been trying to sort out my mum's nPower account. I had no success with nPower so went to the ombudsman last year, who ruled that nPower had to take certain steps to resolve the issue. nPower has refused to comply, and the ombudsman will not reply to my letters because the case is closed. What do I do? How do I complain about the ombudsman?

    Faulty gas meter

A question about : Faulty gas meter

A relative has recently received a gas bill for over Ј600 so has caused a bit of a panic (never gave meter readings and just accepted the estimates).

I've got 2 relatives who live 2 streets apart, identical house types, both with British Gas on the same tariff. Spend similar amounts of time at home. my brothers gas units are 4 per week, my cousins are 27 per week. The only real difference between their usage is my cousin has the central heating on for 1 hour in the morning compared to my brother.

    Independant Energy Companies

A question about : Independant Energy Companies

There appears to be numerous small companies supplying gas and electricity, some recommended by MSE
One such company listed by the Energy Club doesnt even display their contact address on the web site until you look deep into the T&C`s
I would suggest that you Google their post code to find out the actual location of these suppliers
I found one to be a semi-detached house and the other in a Community Centre.

changing energy suppliers when you have solar panels

A question about : changing energy suppliers when you have solar panels

when you have solar panels do you have to do anything different when switching energy providers as the FIT payments are paid 2 months after the quarterly period is up

    Best answers:

    • Leave your FITS payments with the existing supplier, there's no requirement to switch them unless you are using one of the smaller suppliers who only process FITs on a voluntary basis.
All the Big Six have to process them whether they supply you or not.
