BG to E.ON

A question about : BG to E.ON

I have been with British Gas for about 10 years I guess, maybe longer, on duel fuel.

Essex County Council are doing an energy swap awareness thing (not sure how to explain it, more info here.... cannot link, search for Essex Council Energy-Switch for more on it).

I signed up a few weeks ago and the other day they sent me an email saying the moving to E.On will save me Ј400 a year. My first thought was, sounds too good to be true.

Here is a screenshot
(cannot add screenshots!) It says:

Utility Enquiry Led to Unknowingly Switching Supplier

A question about : Utility Enquiry Led to Unknowingly Switching Supplier

Hi there,

I received a phone call today from Scottish Power saying that they were sad I was leaving. Obviously very confused, I enquired what they were talking about. Apparently after an enquiry with Good Energy, I had 'switched' over supplier to them.

By an enquiry, what I literally mean was, I entered my address into their site for more information. I read their pamphlet and realised they were more expensive than Scottish Power and threw it in the bin.

Entitled to Warm Home Discount but Moving...

A question about : Entitled to Warm Home Discount but Moving...

Hey everyone.

We're currently with British Gas. We're entitled to the Warm Home Discount but we're currently in the process of moving to a new home. The suppliers for the new home are EDF. We want ti stay with British Gas but have had to sign up with EDF to say we've moved in etc. Both the Gas and Electricity are also on pre-payment meters, whereas we're on a credit meter at the moment (I'm hoping to get them changed to credit meters in the new home.)

Costs to switch from Pre Payment Meter to Standard?

A question about : Costs to switch from Pre Payment Meter to Standard?

Hi,

A while ago i saw information on here about the costs each provider charged to removed pre payment meters, i cant for the life of me find it! Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?

The info i saw basically said you could switch to a provider that removes them for free rather than pay. I'm currently with Scottish Power and their charges from what i remember are quite high.

New home

A question about : New home

I've always kept on top of gas/electricity tariffs and changed if I've found better deals.

I've now moved into a brand new house, hence no previous readings. The developer signed up to British Gas for both services.

My question is, is there an ideal period of readings to use prior to checking for better tariffs and is there a minimum period.

I would have thought a full 12 Months would be best. My guess on previous experience is that British Gas would not be that competitive but I don't want to switch on a guess.

A question about : Should I Switch?

I am currently undecided as to whether or not it is worth my while switching electricity supplier, would appreciate thoughts from those on here.
