A question about : Re: Switching Gas

Both here and at my previous address I have had problems switching gas supplier because my meter and pipes are not owned by Transco, but by a different gas carrier. This has meant delays and an increase in tarriffs from my new supplier stopping it being worth while trying to switch.

Has anyone else has this problem, and if so, who have you ended up changing to?

A question about : What sort of heating?

We're looking to move to another rented house - supposedly slightly cheaper as I'll be a student and closer to my college. There seems to be a vast difference in the types of heating offered in some of the rented houses. Can someone tell me what is theoretically cheaper - oil, gas or electric central heating. The current house that we're in is on storage heaters which annoy us immensely, but we'd like to be in a knowledgable position when we look round these houses?

This is my first post, Been following the forum for a number of years but I am so angry with myself I had to tell people about it in the hope I can save someone from the same experience.

A question about : What is the average electricity units per day?

I have searched on the internet and cant seem to find anything! We are currently using 18 units on the normal rate , and 4 units on the night time. We dont use a dishwasher,use tumble dryer maybe once a week(if that,try to dry as much on clothes horse/radiators when their on!)
We have an immersion heater for our hot water,which goes on for 20-30 mins in the evening.Everything else is gas.

Can I recommend MSE followers to give 'Go Effortless Energy' a chance? Plain simple tariffs from a plain simple family run business. I was pleasantly surprised with my Gas and Electric new tarrifs. Find them on the Internet or facebook page.

A question about : British Gas electricity !!!!-up

Checking my D/Ds yesterday and I realised that my payments to British-Gas Electricity had stopped in May 2014 although I have received no notification of this.

Forty minutes on the phone to a distant call centre, they told me the supply had been ceased on May 9th ( not by me) but they couldn't see any evidence of a new supplier and I had no outstanding balance with them.
This means I've probably been receiving free electricity for the last nine months and I figure I owe someone between Ј300-Ј400.

A question about : My gas meter doesn't exist, what now?

I've hit a little stumbling block with my gas meter and was hoping somebody else could point me in the right direction to get this sorted.

New build house, moved in last May, but mains gas/meter wasn't fitted till the end of December as somebody installed the mains piping in the wrong place and it took that long to get it moved. The system was supplied using gas bottles till then, provided by the builder.

Moved into a flat on July 8th 2013
Called n power August to arrange transfer of Bill to my name.

After speaking to the lady on the phone explaining the flat was electric only and that 2 people live there they estimated Ј55 per month
