A question about : Big trouble with Council Tax....

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help. I don't know where to turn or what to do, or where to post this.

I am in urgent need of some help with council tax. Please don't judge me I work extremely hard and do not live frivolously.

Circumstances mean that I have just received a court summons for Ј784.00 council tax. The date of the hearing is Fri 6th Feb.

Does anyone have any information on this company? I have googled and cannot find any information on the web apart from the usual co house details and that they are a firm of accountants? I have my suspicions as to the legitimacy of the company and would appreciate any feedback good or bad.

A question about : Finally facing up to the debt

I'm finally pulling my head out of the sand and looking at my debts - can anyone help me by telling me what a DMP is? Does my husband have to know about it - all the loans/ cards are in my name. I'm employed and have quite a good wage but more than half goes on paying regular payments. My husband is self employed and work is scarce at the moment so really need to do something. I've never missed any payments on anything.

A question about : What to pay off, advice needed

Hi all

I have Ј5k to pay off a debt. My options are as follows:

1. Reduce my Barclays Mortgage Reserve. Current balance is Ј21k. This has to be cleared in 10 years time so I am paying Ј225 a month. Interest rate is currently 5%, borrowing limit is Ј34k.

2. Reduce my Halifax Credit Card. Low lifetime interest rate of 6.73%. Balance is Ј7k, if I reduced it to Ј2k I could probably clear this by the end of the year and cancel the card.

A question about : In a DMP but increasing arrears with barclaycard

Ive been in a DMP for almost 5 years now, one of my creditors being Barclaycard.

They insist the monthly payment due is Ј91, however throught eh DMP they are getting Ј32, so the arrears is growing by Ј60 a month, currently up near Ј700.

My concern is that even after all this time in the DMP they will slap a default on giving me 6 years of further horrid credit.

What advice would anyone give.......?

A question about : How do you pay for things?

A question for those of us who are paying back debt, how do you pay for day to day stuff?

Do you always pay cash? Debit card? What about having a credit card that you pay back in full each month?

If it's the credit card is it only for groceries? What about clothes, furnishings, presents?

What about non-monthly costs like Christmas? Or unexpected things like insurance excesses or car breakdowns?

Good morning

A LONG time lurker but thought I would finally introduce myself.

We currently have a lot of debt through my stupidity when I was younger! It's currently standing at
Lloyds Loan - Ј7,300 remaining (Ј320 a month)
Credit Card - Ј6,900 remaining (Ј200 a month plus Ј300 a month overpayment)
Overdraft - Ј2,000
Sainsburys Loan - Ј3000 (although this is paid through my business at Ј96 a month)
Black Horse - Ј12,000 (Ј150 a month)
