Debt-Free Wannabe

A question about : advice on bank debt problems.

I have opened this thread in aid of my young brother in law who is not on the internet.

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of big stuff that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

A question about : Is it all worth the effort? Mystery Shopping, Survey Filling, etc.?

A quick intro:

My wife and I have a small amount of debt but we are generally managing things well enough. A little extra money is always a good thing, so we decided to give the Paid Survey thing a go and have also put in for a spot of Mystery Shopping. We don't expect to make a lot of money but we wondered if these things were really worth the effort.

A question about : how do I find out if I have CCJ's??

Been researching composition orders for a friend on Google and in the details about Admin and Composition Orders it mentions about CCJ's. I wonder if I have got any? I have never received anything from a court? Hoe could I find this out?

A question about : Northumberland Council Tax

Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is the right place, but I couldn't find an area specifically for Council Tax... and we all want to be debt free right??

Ok, so I've had a bit of an ordeal with NCC since April last year.

I TRIED to pay my council tax, by phone, online, even have proof that I enquired by email, and they asked for my details, which I provided...

EDIT: Also used the DD form provided and tried enquiring by post.

I cannot believe that I have been so stupid all these years and not budgeted correctly, I just used to roughly estimate and hope for the best no wonder the debt kept rising.

A question about : Catalogue Debt

Hi All, I am new to this site and really need some help.

Years ago I got myself into debt and registered with Step Change who have been absolutely brilliant, but stupidly last year joined a catalogue (Very, Woolworths and Isme) to help get me through Christmas etc for my daughter.

At first the monthly payments were fine, but now am struggling to meet them and owe Ј3,000.
