Voluntary Reposession

A question about : Voluntary Reposession

Following my posts in IVA board, my friend has now decided to go thr bankruptcy route having checked with HR it won't affect his job.

He wants to hand his house to the mortgage company (Kensington) and add the negative shortfall to the BR which will be about 20-25k.

The plan is then to move into rented accommodation. He has no other large assetts. His car is worth about 1500 but needs it for work and hosp appts. Will this be a good reason to be allowed to hang on to it?

Nearly at the end

A question about : Nearly at the end

Hi all, looking for a bit of advice.

I was declared bankrupt some time ago and I'm nearly at the end of the bankruptcy.

My husband had a car on HP and he sold it to my mum, as we couldn't afford it anymore, we have proof that she paid and bought the car). I have always been the registered keeper for this car although it was in my husbands name. At the moment I am still the registered keeper of the car (only because my mum has just had a double hip replacement and can't drive it for some time)

how to get a mortgage after bankruptcy

A question about : how to get a mortgage after bankruptcy

You too can get a mortgage after bankruptcy.
I have just bought a house for Ј250k after being declared bankrupt in April 2005. Conventional wisdom that Bankruptcy ends your chances of ever getting a mortgage is just not true but there are some golden rules to follow.
If you want to know how I did it, read on.

Bankruptcy, Involvency, complications!

A question about : Bankruptcy, Involvency, complications!

Hi,

I'm writing this on behalf of my father who went bankrupt >20 years ago and is now having repercussions and requires a bit of advice.

You'll have to forgive me because I don't really know much about this so I might be using some of the wrong terms/language.

Basically he went bankrupt well over 20 years ago, it was all resolved (discharged?) and he received a letter stating this from Somerset House Court (which no longer exists).

Bankruptcy?

A question about : Bankruptcy?

Hi All,

My partner and I currently have mortgage (negative equity), secured loan on our property (Firstplus!) and various personal loans / credit. We have been treading water for around ten years paying bills (never missed a payment!) but little else.
The stress and pressure of our finances is beginning to take it's toll and we want to make a fresh start, just ready to hand the keys back to be honest! We think bankruptcy is our only option but are unsure of some aspects and would appreciate some help:
