A question about : First interview with OR this week

Hi there

My wife and I have our interviews with the OR this week one after the other.

I want to go as prepared as possible to avoid more questions down the line as I just want this whole experience over. From people's interview experience, how likely is it they will want to see detailed credit card and bank statements? And if so, how far back? Like most debtors, we have been useless with keeping paperwork. We have original loan applications and the last months statements from each credit card. We use online banking so no paper statements. Should I print these out online and bring along, and if so, how far back?

Would appreciate some feedback from what most people's experience of the interview has been and how much detail has been asked for on bank and credit card statements. Print out going how far back of these statements has typically been asked for?

Any comments appreciated. I'm naturally really nervous about the interview. Between us, we owe Ј120k in unsecured debt on loans and credit cards.

Thank you.

  • Hi firstly..do not worry the thought of the interview is scary but my examiner was really helpful, I had a face to face interview and before hand they asked me to take with me..2 years bank statements and 1 years credit card statements, I applied for these from the bank so I was prepared, but the examiner can request whatever they need from the bank, and they will go as far back as they feel they need to.
Just be honest and you will be fine. x
  • Thank you luvchocolate. Really appreciated. X
  • When I had my phone interview, he asked me if I had any statements and I told him the truth, that I just shredded them when they arrived.
I did have the creditors names and account numbers but he said that was fine.
He was really more interested in the sequence of events leading up to the bankruptcy, (mine was due to gambling) so my advice is just be truthful and state the facts. He doesn't want to hear a sob story but I think a little humility went a long way! (No BRO/BRU!)
  • Hi, I am just recently bankrupt and was so nervous about the OR interview, like you my husband and I had our interview one after each other. We needed 1 year of bank and credit card statements. I also shred mine as soon as they come, OR said not to worry as they can get what they need byt to speed up the process to try to get it over with as quick as possible, I went into the banks and got a years worth, they normally charge but when I told them what it was for they did them for free. Our OR has been lovely so far, so try not to worry to much. Good luck with it your be fine
  • Hi - If you have had your interview date the OR usually tells you what they want you to provide by way of paperwork - does it not say on your letter?
As others have said - the OR can ask for whatever they want - that's usually a year or twos statements. They can get it from the banks themselves but its a lot quicker if you can provide them yourself. Print offs of e-bank statements are fine. Get together what you can - it pays to be as co-operative with the OR as possible. Ј120K is a big debt and the OR will be trying to ascertain how you got to owe that much so I would expect some detailed questions. The only advice anyone can really give is -be honest - if you don't know the answer, say so - but don't try and flannel the OR.
The Or is not there to judge you - just to get the facts.
