Surface Water rebate with Thames Water

A question about : Surface Water rebate with Thames Water

Thames Water charges every house for Surface Water Drainage i.e. rain water. I recently discovered my next door neighbour had claimed a reduction since 2007 because our rain water goes into a soak-away. I applied and Thames Water replied “we took your word that the rainwater from your home does not drain in to our sewer”. They probably already knew!!

Severn Trent Billing

A question about : Severn Trent Billing

Yesterday, I surprising received a reminder for an outstanding bill that said needed paying from Severn Trent.

I say I was surprised, because I didn't recognise the amount they were demanding, or even remember receiving a bill lately from them (but thinking back, I think it is about this time of year a new bill is due)

Today in the post, I receive the bill which yesterdays reminder refers to.

Talk about putting the cart before the horse.

Shocked at rateable value

A question about : Shocked at rateable value

Hi all,

I've just moved into a two bed, 50sqm, council flat in Leeds, council tax band A. I'm shocked that the rateable value of the property gives a water bill of Ј550 a year. I'm having a water meter fitted asap (I've had one for years in my old property).

I just wondered if that sounded about right for the water bill? If it is then I hate to think how much someone in band D is paying.

High water bill due to dripping toilet

A question about : High water bill due to dripping toilet

Just received a water bill covering the past 6 months which was very high (Ј540 for 3 people in rented property).
Checked meter and could see it was going up when no water was being used.
Identified that one of the toilets was dripping from the cistern into the bowl. Shut off the water supply to the toilet and meter seems to have stopped going up.
Is there anything I can do to avoid the high bill? I am guessing not as the issue was with the property and the landlord wasn't to know.

Skin condition and water meter

A question about : Skin condition and water meter

We are due to move into a house which already has a water meter fitted and I don't think you can have them removed, so I'm wondering if there is anything we can do about the bills.

Mains water pressure

A question about : Mains water pressure

I didn't do so well with my Googling. The general guidance seems to be that water supply companies quote a 1 bar standard.

I bought a meter via Amazon that measures mine at 2.2 bars, but it doesn't feel so strong.

What would be considered to be the ideal mains water pressure?
