BookWorm's MFW Chapter

A question about : BookWorm's MFW Chapter

title=Wave

I've been lurking around these parts for a good while now with occasional posts here and there. However, after reaching what I consider to be a milestone with my mortgage (will come back to that shortly), I felt the time was right to start my own diary. I figured if I don't now, I may never do so!

Squirrelling it all away......

A question about : Squirrelling it all away......

Hello,

I have been reading the MFW diaries for some months now and am finally in a position to begin some serious overpaying. I intend to overpay Ј1500 per month in order to finish our mortgage on 1.3.13. It seems a nice symmetrical date.

The Big Adventure

A question about : The Big Adventure

For the last week or so, I’ve been hanging around the MFW board, looking at peoples diaries, and adding a couple of comments here and there.
One thing has struck me, that everyone is focussed on their goals, but is keen to be enjoying life while they are on their journey.
I’m at a different stage of my life, as I paid my mortgage off a few years ago. But the things that all the MFW-ers are doing are the same sort of things that I’m doing in my preparations for my early retirement.

The Road to Financial Security

A question about : The Road to Financial Security

I've been reading a lot of the posts on this website and been very inspired by many of the mortgage free wannabee diarists. After a roller coaster of a year I think we are finally in a position to start making in roads into our mortgage.

Without wanting to waffle on too long here is a summary of our situation:

We are a family of 3, (my, husband & 12 year old son) plus our 9 year old labrador.

Time for me to start a diary title=Jumping.

I work 2 days a week, dd is at school and dh was made redundant in the summer. We are living carefully, although the redundancy money is being nibbled away at of course. We are fortunate to have no debts other than the mortgage, so I would like to get rid of it! We'd also like to have a savings buffer - about 6 months' worth seems to be the rule of thumb.

Second Time Lucky

A question about : Second Time Lucky

Hi,

Having got very close to becoming mortgage-free (about Ј8000 remaining) on our first house, we will soon be moving into the house that we intend to live in for a very long time, which means taking on another mortgage.
