Pardale V for dogs

A question about : Pardale V for dogs

I got some Pardale V tablets from my vet for my dog. She is already on Metacam which worked well for a few months then seemed to stop helping her.

The Pardale V was to be given as well as the Metacam.

I have checked out the ingredients and they contain 400mg paracetamol and 9mg codeine per tablet. The vet charged Ј44 per 100 tablets but their content is almost identical to co codamol (500mg paracetamol, 8mg codeine) costing about Ј2 for 32 at a pharmacy.

Is there any reason why my dog should not have those instead?

Limping Dog

A question about : Limping Dog

I have an appointment with the vet on Friday morning with my 8 year old staff. She very rarely goes to the vet, but I just wondered how much (generally) vets charge for just seeing the animal.

I have a feeling she is just getting old and will be prescribed some kind of arthritis medication which is fair enough. Just wondered how much the call out charge is.

I appreciate I could ring up and ask or should have asked when the appointment was made, but my mum made it this morning while I was at work.

pets with cancer

A question about : pets with cancer

One of my Guinea Pigs has cancer. I noticed tumours all over her belly. Then a lump on the side of her leg. That one in particular grew more quickly than the others. It's about 3cm across now. The piggy doesn't use that leg now. She hops about on three. Apart from that she's very happy. She purrs and squeeks and is still eating loads of fresh salad (and grass).

Cats and their 'gifts'

A question about : Cats and their 'gifts'

How do you cope with them?
We adopted a three year old cat a few months ago and she is getting more and more generous. For the last few weeks she has been bringing in mice every night, sometimes more than one.
