I've just asked for more info through the EnergySavingTrust website - let's see if they send it this time... (I asked for some before a few months ago and it never arrived.)

Slightly OT perhaps, but their commit to reduce by 20% section's a bit confusing - it talks about preventing climate change - I thought the climate scientists and environmental evangelists were saying that climate change was happening now.

I am in the process of planning a ground level extension to my house 3.5 metres x 4 metres apex roof. Is there a rule of thumbe for estimating building costs? For example Ј/square metre formula.

I just want to have an idea of roughly where the prospective builders should be giving their quotes.

Plumbing is too expensive. Especially as some of it, but not all, can be done ourselves. So to help out Ian Puddick (media plumber - ie he appears doing plumbing on some radio & TV progs!) has agreed to answer your questions on here for free.

(QUICK NOTE: My throw away line in the tip about plumbers charging a fortune has offended some. So let me say yes there are some rip-off plumbers, but there are of course good guys too. Apologies if i offended the latter!)

A friend has an infestation of bees/wasps under a flat roof on an extension.

He has thought of drilling a hole in the facia board so that he can pump something in to kill them, but what!

A question about : Aquashield

Has anyone had any dealings with a copmpany / product called Aquashield - roof treatments ? MiL has just signed up to some roof cleaning treatment which sounds a bit iffy at Ј2.5K for a semi ?
