A question about : Newly Skimmed walls and ceilings

hi

we are having our 1930's house skimmed from top to bottom and its nearly finished. We want to paint everything white (for now) so that its fresh and clean and we can finally move in.

our builder says we should use PVA on the walls first and the plasterer rekons watered down emulsion, i've also seen some specific paint for new plaster in wickes today so now i'm very confused.

we plan to use dulux matt white paint and probably 2 coats everywhere.

any advice would be appreciated.

A question about : tile paint any good?

I am re-doing my bathroom
The tiles in there are awful. I have painted the bathroom white as there are no windows so needs to be as bright as possible
i would like to paint over the old tiles with tile paint but asking people at work it does not seems a good idea.
has anyone ever used tile paint or tile transfers??

A question about : uPVC door lock mechanism broken!

Just today the lock mechanism on my uPVC door gave in. At first it was only the door latch that wouldn't retract so i took that off (simple screw) and could still secure the door by the shoot bolts (hook type) and lock it. Now the shoot bolts are stuck in place and the handle doesn't do anything! Luckily, the door is stuck shut, not open. Both times there was a failure of something in the door - I felt it go.
