A question about : Building Insurance Increased Excess

Hi

Just received my building insurance renewal from Saga. I flooded in 2007 so this has to be considered.

The cover has increased by about 30% but the excess in now Ј10,000.00 that a 50 fold increase since 2007 when it was Ј200.00.

Is this allowed - are other seeing this type of increase - I am struggling to find alternative cover.

Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks

A question about : Plasterboarding over mould and condensation?

Hello all,

I am renovating my house and I am on to the second bedroom. The outside wall is suffering from condensation. I've have read up about this and know why it is forming. There is mould forming. I am going to treat the mould with something not sure yet, and will install this thong which regulates air in and out the house, am not sure what they call them, dave dampski recommended them to me.

A question about : storm Query

On Tuesday morning,we had an awful storm,where we lost our electricity supply,when electricity returned several hours later,it seems my television and sky box have died.
i havent yet been able to call sky or the insurance company as my phone is still off.
somebody said i might be covered on my house insurance,someone else said no,act of god.
any advise?help would be great,thanks

A question about : B&Q Bathroom problems

My B&Q bath just crack, it’s never been used and still has the protective film around. I bought this bath 1year and 6 months ago... (retail price bath: Ј620)

and this is where my problem stars. Its out of the 12 month warranty but accordingly to the Consumers Direct and the Sale of Goods Act, B&Q is still responsible for giving me a replacement if it is proven that it wasn’t us that made the crack.
So far so good.

In February during the snow the water pipe in my external garage burst. Not going out there too often, I didn't notice for about a week, during which time (according to my water bill) 40,000 litres of water poured through my ceiling and walls.

A question about : nsurance Problem

On Jan 2nd, i thought some one had spilt a drink went to wipe it up & realised the carpet underneath was soaking. After further investigation the living room & passage carpet plus underlay were water damaged. I took it all up and went about drying out both areas. I had to drag carpet etc outside. I checked both radiators to see if leak was coming from there but couldn't find one. I had also turned off water.
