settling insurance claim

A question about : settling insurance claim

we were recently flooded downstairs due to leaking pipe. All repaired now but chem dry need to come in and dry and local builder appointed by loss adjuster need to strip back tiles etc and to make good all damage. Do I have to have the loss adjusters builders to repair (i have heard they will soon be out of business) or can we take a cash settlement and do repairs ourselves. If so do we lose out financially??

Rights about snow and getting to work

A question about : Rights about snow and getting to work

Just done some research on staff rights regarding work and snow and found out the following:
The Trades Union Congress says “While you should make every reasonable effort to get into work, you should not attempt to travel if it is not safe. With large parts of the UK forecast to be under snow and icethat could stretch to February, we urge employers to adopt a flexible attitude to staff attendance and where possible allow employees to work from home. ”

Help! Left the bath tap running!

A question about : Help! Left the bath tap running!

I was washing some clothes in the bath after our washing machine died, but forgot to turn the tap off and then left to pick up the children from camp. title=EEK!That was two weeks ago and the house has still not dried out even though we are using three dehumidifiers. Black mould is growing in my shower room and my living room, bedroom, hallway and kitchen have also patches of mould. Does anyone know what would be clever to do next?
