CarTrawler / Argus Car Hire / Pepe Car - Rental Scam when taking a security deposit.

I just returned from a trip to Barcelona. I booked car hire from the UK through Argus Car Hire arguscarhire.com which is also called CarTrawler and had a very eye-opening experience which cost me dear in my wallet.

i am traveling to the U.S. soon and have US dollars I do not want to carry it in cash are there any money cards I can put dollars in instead of sterling.

First flight booking would be with airline A from UK to Newark.
2nd flight booking would be airline B from NY to ORlando.

Obvious issues are what if flight A is late and connection is missed to Orlando?

And on way home, if flight B is late and miss flight back to UK?

In the past, we've done indirect flights but with same airline so no issues if the connection is missed. (In fact, once they put us up in hotel for night before flying us home next day).

Im guessing different airlines tough luck?

A question about : How far in advance to book car hire?

I'm planning to book a 5+2 seater for Alicante on October.

I thought the price would be cheaper the longer in advance I made the booking however prices before the summer seem to be a lot cheaper than after the summer.

Anyone know how long in advance is the best time to book car hire? I'm worried if I leave it in the hope they will come down the prices will rocket.

I'm visiting the states this summer and have been reading up on exchange rates. The Ј --> $ is expected to get much worse in the coming months so I'm thinking about getting some money changed now. What do the people of MSE do for money when they go on holiday? Credit cards? Cash? Both?
