A question about : Capital Gains on House Sale

Hi,

I bought a house 14 years ago for ЈX and lived in it for 8 years. When I moved out, I gifted the house to my wife and we let the house to tenants.

The house is now worth ЈY. I know that if I had kept it as my own, if I sold it now, the capital gains tax would be based on the proportion of the time I lived in it (8/14) and the gain (ЈY-ЈX).

However, I don't own it, my wife does. So, two questions:

A question about : Two jobs BR tax code?

Hi there, up until January, I had been working part time (3 days per week) with the local council, and two days per week self employed.

This has now changed, and I now work full time, five days per week with the council. I have cut down on my self employed work now and don't do as much.

I have noticed that although my council pay slip has increased in earnings, as expected with going full time, the tax I am paying seems worryingly high and my tax code is BR.
Is this the right code, and is there anything I need to do?

A question about : tax rebate

Hi

When we filled in our end of yr accounts just before the cut off 31/01/15 it said i had paid too much tax and could claim it back. I filled in the section with my bank details as I thought it said it would repay it straight to my account. It's now just over two weeks and no sign. My OH says it will come in with my wages next time but I thought it said it would go to my account. Any ideas please?

A question about : m1/w1 tax code and underpayment

Currently going out of my mind with worry and would be very grateful of any advice please.

For the tax year 13/4 I began a new job in April and continued to be s/e until august. I had a one off lump payment in August (PAYE) which took my PAYE earnings to Ј51k.

I filled in a P46 in April and (wrongly) ticked box C assuming that self employment was a job and was placed on a BR code.

A question about : How much CGT

Hi could someone give me a rough estimate of cgt liability please,

Moved into house Oct 2002 cost Ј84500, No paperwork to support this.

Moved out 2006, parents moved in, we moved into theirs, Remortgaged in 2008 to BTL as advised by broker, to allow parents to live there never have rented out.

Brought their house same time. So have owned two home since 2008.

Parents are going to retirement property so have sold house for Ј137000.

A question about : Cash Allowance to Company Car

Hello,

Just a quick question which i'm struggling to understand and would appreciate it explaining please.

At present I take a company car cash allowance but i am wanting to now take a car but trying to work out the impact of my net pay per month if i do so.

The part im trying to work out is :-

At present I get Ј340 pm car allowance
After tax is Ј204 take home. (Ј136 reduction)

If I take a car im trying to work out what the overall effect on my net pay each month will be.

A question about : Under payment

I have recieved a letter from the Tax man saying I have had two employments at the same time and both employers were applying a PAYE code etc...
They are saying I owe Ј803.20 from the years 2011-2012 and 2012-2013.
I have tried to call the but after being on hold for 30mins I gave up
