Catching up on NI, but self-employed

A question about : Catching up on NI, but self-employed

Hello,

I have not registered as self-employed, but did some website work on the side over the last few years. I haven't made any profit from it and turnover is next to nothing also.

I've paid no tax or NI during this period as I have been unemployed.

Is it possible to register as self-employed now for that period? Or can I only register now, then pay the Class 2 NI each week going forward?

Council Tax Liability Order

A question about : Council Tax Liability Order

Hi all,

Needing some quick advice.

I have received two further notice of enforcements from an Enforcement agency both with separate reference numbers

One is for roughly Ј600.00 with the liability order dated the 08/08/2014. The other is for about Ј50.00 less yet dated 05/09/2014.

Is it heard of for a council to issue a second liability notice less than a month later?

I cant understand why there are two and the second one is less???

Advice on property that is rented out.

A question about : Advice on property that is rented out.

Own a property that is rented. Pay tax on the rent. Paid 47000 for the property and if sold would probably get about 65000. Am I right in thinking that there would be 18000 profit. So would pay 18% tax on Ј9000. But as Property shared ownership with another then as below Ј11000 then no tax payable.

Did get parents home following their death and rented out for a while which we paid tax on. When property sold in 2000 for Ј50000 I cannot remember paying any capital gains tax?

Employed

A question about : Employed

Hi,

I have two jobs, and have always left my employers to sort out my tax. Applying my annual allowance to my first job, and accepting 20% (BR) tax on my 2nd. I've recently changed my 2nd job however, and now need to claim back my own petrol (the company does not pay expenses). I was told to complete a P87, which I sent a couple of weeks ago. I'm just wondering, how long does it normally take for a response? Also, will i receive the full 45p per mile, or only a percentage of this?

What is domicile for tax purpose?

A question about : What is domicile for tax purpose?

hi there - can anybody shed some light on what's a 'Domicile' for tax purposes in the uk?

I moved to the UK from Australia a year ago through a company transfer. I am a UK resident as I used my EU passport to get in and have been the whole year...

I only intend to stay for few years and eventually go back.

Where's my domicile?? I have a property overseas which I plan in renting out and I see there're different rules depending on the domicile and where tax is paid.

Thank you!

Grandparent gift to newborn grandson

A question about : Grandparent gift to newborn grandson

Hi everyone, hoping someone can help me clarify the following.

I am the proud grandparent to my first grandchild who was born very recently.

I wish to make him a gift with my annual gift allowance of 3k GBP for 2014-2015. However I haven't used my allowance for the previous year, 2013-2014, also of 3k GBP. I understand that the limit can be carried over so my allowance is 6k GBP.
