A question about : Inheritance Tax: Save £100,000s with simple advanced planning Article Discussion

My parents sought help with IHT from their Bank (Lloyds). They are under the impression that the cost is Ј20000 with an annual maintenance fee of Ј500 to set up and maintain a Discretionary Inheritance Trust. I am guessing that their total estate would not be valued at more than Ј400,000.
Ј20K???? This cannot be right.
Can anyone give me an estimate of what the costs are likely to be so that I can advise my parents.

A question about : P45, P60 and general tax help

Bit of a long shot, but y'all have got to be more use than the Tax Office!

My husband finished his old job in mid March. He had a week unemployed and started his new job at the end of March. He still hasn't received his P45 from his old employer and doesn't really expect to - even though his old employer was claiming Ј75/week to employ him because he'd been unemployed for aeons before that, he still doesn't think that the fact he was working had been mentioned to the tax office.

Can anyone help me understand a UK inheritance tax issue?

My dad's father-in-law died a few years ago but didn't leave a will. The house he had lived in with his wife for many years was in his name, but I presumed that his house would naturally be inherited by his wife and that she wouldn't have to pay inheritance tax.

A question about : Tax liability on company profit shares

Hi,
I have recently left Tesco, who operates a profit sharing scheme called shares in success. I have forfeited one year's of shares because of leaving, but still have 74 remaining.
However, I now become liable for income tax and NICs. They give me three choices:
1) sell all shares and deduct the liability
2) sell enough shares to cover the liability and transfer the remainder
3) I send a cheque to cover the liability and all shares are transferred.

Might be worth a check its a no win no fee service and as its from my TU i would think pretty legit.
