Beware Ј13 bottle of Grants Scotch

A question about : Beware Ј13 bottle of Grants Scotch

I was in Asda in Poole this evening to get a bottle of scotch. I looked at the rows on display and my eyes settled on a bottle of Grants. Asda price Ј13.

Not a bad price for Grants, thought I, and put it in my basket.

But when I got to my sisters house, I took it out of the bag and was about to open it when I thought there was something wrong. On closer inspection, the 'bottle of Grants' was actually only a 50cl bottle instead of the usual 70cl.

Do you get frustrated at people throwing money down the drain?

A question about : Do you get frustrated at people throwing money down the drain?

A close relative recently came into a modest inheritance which although not life changing is far more than he has ever had before. I suspect it's the first time he has had more than a few pennies to his name and he still works at probably around the minimum wage.

I somehow suspected this would be quickly wasted away. I tried not to become too involved, since he would probably ignore any advice, then use this as an excuse to come to me for potential future troubles.

Deputy with Court of Protection

A question about : Deputy with Court of Protection

Does anyone know how long it takes to be granted deputy with the Court of Protection? I sent off my application in early April, and the service desk keep telling me that it will be another four weeks - they've been telling me this since early July!

Theatre tickets for seniors

A question about : Theatre tickets for seniors

I've just bought 2 tickets for Cats at the London Palladium. They didn't give an age for the senior tickets but as I am 60 I bought 1 for myself and paid full price for OH as he is only 57.

I am assuming senior means 60 or over as it seems to everywhere else. Does anyone know if they are likely to ask for proof of my age when we go (picking up tickets from box office on day of performance). I don't have a driving licence so it would have to be passport or birth certificate, neither of which I normally carry with me!

Living abroad tips and hints for money savers

A question about : Living abroad tips and hints for money savers

Please use this thread for any hints, tips or just your experiences of re-locating abroad especially on a budget.

Not necessarily for the retired but this discussion started regarding how much it costs per month to live in the UK when retired and living on a limited budget which made people talk about their experiences of living in Spain. No need to restrict the discussion to Spain though title=Smile

ID for French pension

A question about : ID for French pension

I am hoping somebody in this board may have experience of this issue.
Thanks to working in France for a year many moons ago I get a tiny French pension each month.
Every year I have to return a form duly signed to prove that I still exist. Up till now this has been signed at the Register office without any charge or any difficulty or delay.
Now I have moved areas and the local RO will not do this.
