A question about : Finding IFA to help with my gran's financial affairs

Hello all! I have Power of Attorney for my grandma who's 90 & lives in a care home. I've just sold her house & am looking for an IFA who can help me find the best way to pay for her care home costs (which I imagine will be an annuity) & generally help me access & sort out all her little investments & accounts. I've managed so far on my own with some scrimping, saving & research in places like this but now I feel a bit out of my depth & just want to do the best I can for her!

A question about : spending it while we can

I want to get away from the ski-ing idea, when spending is lavish and deliberately anti inheritance. We have lifelong savings and I have spent on various `good` items during the past year. Items I could have done without but want now, to enjoy while I can

First off was a new better sewing machine. Not the top of the range singing dancing type but a really good solid bernina that doesn`t put a foot wrong

A question about : Cat problem in a flat?

I need to downsize to a flat and there are several two bedroomed flats locally that would be suitable. My problem is my housecat. Where do you put the litter tray in a flat? There is no problem is my current abode. I can only think I should have to let him go but he has been with me 6 years (he is about 12). Any thoughts?

Yes I must be mad, but I have had a long think about it and it is something I want to do, but I'm confused who to ask for legal and financial advice.

Basically I am a widow with 1 son from my husband that passed away.

My son has recently divorced (after his wife left him) and has a mortgage on his home.

I own my own home and have cash which can pay for his home and leave me with enough money to live on, as I receive a widow's pension from my late husband.

There used to be a dedicated forum for people either living or thinking about living abroad.

There was lots of useful stuff about health care, buying houses, cost of living, weather surprises etc. but I can't find it now.

A question about : Locating bank accounts and investments

I have just gained a power of attorney for a relative who now has dementia. Unfortunately they are unable to remember where they have bank / savings accounts and investments. While I have located some old information by going through papers at their home - I can see there have been investments made in the past which have now matured but I have no idea where the funds have been reinvested.
