Discuss !!!!

A question about : Discuss !!!!

Letter in today's Daily Telegraph:

SIR – I’d be surprised if Labour’s health spokesmen are against the proposals I am putting to Labour’s National Policy Review on refinancing the NHS and social care. The objection you report them making is squared in the report.

Hearing Aids

A question about : Hearing Aids

Hi everyone,

I've been looking around online and these guys claim to be the cheapest for hearing aids: https://www.yourhearing.co.uk/

I've spoken with then directly and seem to be very knowledgeable, thinking of having the free home hearing test with them.

Does anyone have any experience or dealings with https://www.yourhearing.co.uk/ ????

Does this sound right? Is there a cause for complaint?

A question about : Does this sound right? Is there a cause for complaint?

I found out last Monday that my 82 year old father has advanced CA Prostate with bone metastases. He lives with his partner, about 75 miles from me. I knew he was not well, but he is a very private and domineering person, and does not talk about anything, even to his partner. She learned of the full situation last Monday too, when she called the doctor out. She had been on holiday and found out that he had spent the week she was away in bed and not eating.

Financial Assessment for Care-home fees

A question about : Financial Assessment for Care-home fees

I'm just in the process of completing the financial assessment on behalf of my aunt for social services.
She has just under Ј300 in her 'pocket money' a/c within the home she lives in. Do I need to inform them of that too.

Dissapearing Covenant

A question about : Dissapearing Covenant

We purchased our property over 30 years ago, when a farm was split up into 6 lots. We purchased one of the lots.
There is a lane which leads to all six lots, we live at the end of this lane.
In the deeds of all six lots is a covenant which states that we are responsible for a one sixth share of the upkeep of the lane.
Recently one of the lots was sold and I enquired from the new owner if he was aware of the covenant in his deeds.
He said to the best of his knowledge that he knew nothing of the covenant.

Elderly Mum and Fray Bentos pie tins....

A question about : Elderly Mum and Fray Bentos pie tins....

Hi all,

My Mum loves Fray Bentos Steak and Kidney pies but has difficulty opening the tins. Sometimes I'm there to help but we're looking for a solution to help her when I'm not around.

Does anyone mind sharing info on what kind of can openers the elderly folk you know use?

We've tried a Magican one that slices the tops off tins (doesn't work)and the normal just cheapo metal one but that is tough to use and tends to miss out bits as well as mangling part of the lid.

Non financial retirement planning?

A question about : Non financial retirement planning?

Originally posted on pensions but advise to repost here
All,

I am hoping to retire early in about 6 years (age 55) and think I have the financial side in place.

But what about the non-financial stuff?

I have some ideas about hobbies/interests I would like to pursue, but can't at the moment as work is still taking up much of my time?

Did you make a slow transition i.e. going part time first? or did you just put less focus on work?

Did you find the transition difficult?
