A question about : Charity fundraising event proof of income and outgoing's

Hi,

This is my first post so I hope it all makes sense.

We are currently working on becoming a small charity and have almost reached Ј5000 to achieve charity status.

Recently there was an event held to raise money for 4 seperate charities / funds. Ours being one of them.

The event made well over Ј9000 and the 4 charities have yet to recieve any money and the amounts quoted appear to be miniscule compared to the total income.

A question about : New Charity being formed

My wife, friend and I are setting up a new Charity to be able to fund a new Wheelchair Rugby team in Broadstone, Dorset.

We need to raise funds so that we can get 20 wheelchairs and all the equipment, plus we need to be able to afford the Leisure Centre.

The Charity will also be raising money for other new Disability Sports in the local Dorset area and we've got a few ideas up our sleeve to raise funds.

The question is what do we need to do to apply to become a Charity?

A question about : Bottle top & other convert to caЈh scemes?

Not sure if this is the right place?

I am looking for places that appeal for items such as bottle tops (mainly plastic) and other recyclable bits that the charity can convert to cash for fundraising.

There used to be a scheme near me that did this with plastic bottle tops but I recently went to drop off my carrier bag full to find they have stopped collecting them.

A question about : Donating Loyalty Points to Charity

Having dumped all my loyalty cards I discovered that I could donate my Kenco points to Macmillan Cancer Support. For 65 points I can get 100gm of Millicano, inc. p&p, which retails at Ј2 - Ј4. If I donate my points to Macmillan Cancer Support I find, only by delving into the Kenco T&Cs, that Macmillan will only get 1p/point.

As a comparison Nectar will donate Ј1 to 'Action for Children' for 250 points - 500 Nectar points are worth Ј2.50 discount at Argos.

A question about : Where to give branded winter coat

Hi all,

I have a very thick and warm winter coat that I'm looking to get rid of, however it's branded with the logo of a company (and it also neon yellow!). I tried getting the logo off with a hairdryer but to no avail. Would like to get it into the hands of someone on the streets now the Winter is moving in, but wonder if homeless charities would be able to use it.

Any suggestions on where to donate it?
