Housing Benefit guide Discussion Area

A question about : Housing Benefit guide Discussion Area

Excellent article, the link to the HBUpdate website was very helpful, I have now calculated that I will be Ј60 a month worse off after the cuts. Could be worse! I recommend everyone gets their paperwork out now and works out what they'll get as it's better to be prepared!

Seriously need help...please :)

A question about : Seriously need help...please :)

I am considering resigning from work to become a full time mum.

If I work full time, I will lose my current benefits and be working to pay for my childs nursery fees, plus I have not had a child just to put them in nursery full time and never see them! If I remain part time, the benefits I am entitled too do not come anywhere near helping cover nursery costs.

My baby is currently looked after by her grandparents on the days I work but they are struggling.

Tax Credits change of circumstance means lose everything for 6 weeks ?????

A question about : Tax Credits change of circumstance means lose everything for 6 weeks ?????

Being a completely stupid, but honest, person who claims tax credits as soon as I knew my circumstances were altering (my partner moving in with me) I called up the tax credits people to let them know I'd need a joint claim.

I now understand why people are forced to lie to the tax credit office.

Sign up to save AA and DLA

A question about : Sign up to save AA and DLA

Both of these benefits are under threat at the moment under the new social care green paper. This is in fact a step backwards for the disabled, right now they contribute towards our independance - handing the money over to SS would make us immidiatly dependant on them. DLA was introduced because of evidence showing that disability increases living costs regardless of income - to remove it is to place a new 'stealth' tax on disabled people.
