Student Loans Means Testing

A question about : Student Loans Means Testing

Hi

My partner is about to go to Uni at age 37. We live together but are not married. On the student loans site it requests information on my earnings, to assess his possible loan, but it says that same sex partner's income does not have to be declared. We are not Same sex parnters. Is this reverse descrimination? How would I go about challenging it?

Thanks

Student Discount For All

A question about : Student Discount For All

Fed up with paying full price at the cinema?

Last year my boyfriend and I enrolled on short courses (10 weeks) at our local college (fees depends on choice of course - my singing class was Ј38 and his welding course Ј40.50 - but some are free).

We made sure the courses started in September and on the first night went to Student Services and picked up our NUS cards.

Loads of high street shops offer 10% discount to students, you also get discount at the cinema and tourist places etc.

Going back to uni as a grown up

A question about : Going back to uni as a grown up

I am considering going back to uni to do another degree. The course I have found is full time, but would allow me to work 3 days a week in my current job - The course is structured so that the lectures are all on one day.

The question I have is that, assuming that I could reduce my hours at work (other people have for other reasons - I would be earning just under Ј30k assuming long days), what is the situation regarding loans, funds available and council tax? Also, has anyone else done anything like this?

Mature student finance

A question about : Mature student finance

Hi, I am a Nursing Sister fully qualified but wanting to take a degree and specialise. There are many courses open to me with many Uni's but all cost quite a lot. Its a conversion course where i need to build points. What options have I open to me to fund this situation. I will be doing my normal day job as well as studying.

Do employers gain from your student loan repayments??

A question about : Do employers gain from your student loan repayments??

Probably been asked before......

Never really paid much attention to my student loan repayments, other than the annual statements.

Last statement was around Ј240 (march 2014), so i figured i would have it paid of by now, and indeed i have, but my payments have continued to come out, as its my responsibility to say i've finshed. So the last 8 months ive been contributing to a debt that doesn't exist.... Something i find really bizarre!
