A question about : Redundant

Hi

Asking on behalf of friends mum.

She worked part time in a nursing home and on Christmas Eve they were told that they would not be paid and no longer had jobs as home closing. Having quickly googled the home, it seems the CQC weren't impressed, so staff bearing brunt of owners incompetence.

A question about : At risk of redundancy

I have found out that all the people who do the same as me including me are all at risk of redundancy and we will need to re-apply for our jobs (I'm assuming that there will be a lot less jobs therefore heightened risk of not getting it again). Feeling very anxious about it, trying to be practical, I'm a nurse so have searched for nursing agencies that I could apply so I could get shift work, my hubby works away so this does makes shifts more difficult as we have dogs.

So as of tomorrow, I will be made redundant after 3/4 years service. My area manager broke the news around 4 months back (first consultation) but i haven't heard or seen him since then. My manager is also in the dark about the situation.

A question about : Redundancy -personal circumstances.

Are employers obliged to consider personal circumstances for redundancy -ie a single person more at risk than someone who has dependants?Also can length of service be ignored -or should that be factored in ?

A question about : Redundancy offer with car

My company is making me redundant (in consultation period at present) and I have asked for my company car as part of my redundancy package. Its wholly owned by the company and not leased. If they do give it to me, on top of my redundancy money is it liable for tax? they think it might be. My package would be under Ј30k including the car.

A question about : General Queries re Redundancy

Hi,

I have worked for the same company since leaving school at 16 (41 years).

I have been made redundant and because Tax, N.I. etc. has always been taken care of for me I need some advice. The HMRC is always engaged and I have some simple questions.

I am considering doing some Freelance work as jobs in this area are few and far between.

I know I can earn up to Ј10,000 before paying tax and that is 20% no problem on that one.

A question about : Redundancy looming

Hi all

Just after some advice for my mum please?

She's been in her job for 3.5 years but it looks like the company is closing down - it's been in financial difficulty for some time. My mum has been applying for jobs so hopefully she'll be hearing some time soon but I just want to get some advice as she is worrying herself sick.

She is 59, lives in a rented house, has no savings and no pension What help, if any , would she get if she was unable to find a job?
