A question about : Contractor mortgage brokers

Any contractors have any recommendations for specialist mortgage brokers they've used?

I've come across a few, but the spiel on their websites sounds a bit too good to be true, so would like to hear people's experiences.

A question about : Raising Money on a Propertyy I own Outright

How might one go about doing this?

I'm in full employment, but have a cash flow problem that won't be solved until I take my pension, along with a substantial lump sum.

I'm considering raising money against the propert I live in as an option. Is this sane?

I'm 57 years old.

I'd be grateful for some views.

A question about : Which mortgage?

My eldest son is about to start a temporary job then a funded PhD in Glasgow. He will be receiving circa Ј13,000 for the next 3.5 years.

Firstly: Will it be possible for him to get a mortgage? (Ha ha)

Secondly: I have no mortgage but would be able to get a small mortgage on my earnings (plus I own my house).

Is me getting a mortgage the only/best way to go?

I thought I found a number on here to ring for advice but I can't find it now.

I have been reading these boards for a few weeks and thought I should probably ask for some advice on our situation please.

My father in law helped us in 2010 by buying us a house by getting the mortgage in his name as I was a student and my hubby was bankrupt in 2009 (discharged 2010, completely off his file this month).

I am having a bit of bother trying to get additional borrowing on my mortgage for home improvements due to a default I got 2 years ago for Ј450 that I cleared immediately.
I currently am the sole owner on the mortgage and title deeds etc, current mortgage of 110000 and property value of 190000
I want to borrow 15000

A question about : Money from deposit or loan for renovation

Hi. Completely newby to mortgages and home buying, though my girlfriend and I are on the road to saving for a deposit and would like some heads up if at all possible.

Our predicament is there is a house in a nice area which will be going for cheap though will require a lot of decorating (hasn't been lived in for 20 years, and decorated for 50 years!). The house isn't in need of any structural work just the interior taking back, replastering, new bathroom, kitchen etc.

A question about : Mortgage application

I am a first time buyer and my proposed lender is Halifax. I had an affordability test, and after that a AIP (at least that is what it was called although the paper I have is called Key Facts illustration). The lender also arranged for a Survey which has been carried out and already I have a report. They also instructed Conveyancing on my behalf. I have asked the Conveyancing team to hold off any searches as I don't want to pay fees if no offer is made.

A question about : Consent to Lease

Hi

I currently have a 3 year agreement with my MP to lease my property for 3 years - this ends in June 2017. The mortgage I have is an IO one.

Has anyone got any experience of what may / may not happen after this point?

Will I be able to extend the CTL?
Will I be forced to change to a BTL?
This would need a big injection of cash to bring it in line with the LTV ratios for BTL.
Forced to sell the property?
