I think their are two biggies not included in this basic model that should be highlighted:
1) Tax credits
If you are on tax credits and earn more than Ј300 interest per year (outside ISAs) then the interest will result in a withdrawal of tax credit at the rate of 41p in the Ј on top of any tax on the interest so an effective rate of 61% for basic rate tax payers!!!
2) Re-mortgaging

Originally came across this forum and had the idea of OP in the short term while interest rates so low but have been so inspired to make being MF a realistic goal.
Initially was inspired by Financial Bliss's diary and then read many others taking in lots of tips and posting the occasional comment.

I have been reading these threads over the last few days and I'm completely addicted!!

So approx 10 years ago we bought a flat for Ј83k sold for Ј115k. Overplayed that by Ј50 a month. Moved to house in 2007 we bought for 183k and recently sold for Ј180k in April 2014. The house I'm in now we bought for Ј295k and that is our final 'Jump'.
