Was morgage free about 4 years ago but then found our dream home 2 years ago, the difference between the properties and the renovation has left us with a morgage of Ј100,000,00 (in 3 bits). Finally finished all the work and now need to getting paying. Started last December Overpaying but struggled due to having zero savings and having a lean 18 months, so missed a few OPs due to mini disasters.

A question about : How do you allocate your money?

Say you have Ј200 a month 'free'.

Ј100,000 mortgage at 3%
Ј6000 Savings at 2.5%
A house that needs a new bathroom. (going to be living here 10+years)
A holiday would be nice too

How would you/do you create balance in where you send your money?

I've been trying to figure out the best way to do a bit of everything and thought some peoples opinions would really help

morning all,
I've had to swap names to protect the innocent....
DD off to school , thankfully. MSEing nicely, washing on drier, whoopsied mince (Ј3.87 down to 45p) out to defrost for tonight's spaghetti Bol.

On the upside, I still have Ј60 petrol money left for 8 days thanks to the snow.

After reading so many great and inspirational diaries on here, I have finally decided to start my own! I have dithered over whether to start a MFW diary since I got the mortgage 16 months ago, because we won't actually be able to overpay anything for a few more years yet. But after receiving a gentle push in the right direction from Lois_E, Pearla*Merle, gallygirl and Goldiegirl, I am finally getting on with it
