A question about : Starting the mortgage free path

Like many people I've been a lurker on these boards for a while now and after reading some other diaries I've decided to take plunge and start on the mortgage free path.

Me and my girlfriend bought our house in May 2009 with a 25 year mortgage of Ј155,590 on a 5 year Alliance & Leicester fix at 3.99%. Monthly payment of Ј832.

The house was a bit of a timewarp (one family had lived there for over 50 years) so needed completely new electrics, replastering, painting, carpets ripped up etc.

A question about : Shall we get started?

Hello MFWs , i've been desperate to join this board for ages and i think i now can.

Two debts left:
1) secure loan Ј13,035.58
2) mortgage Ј214,061.89

Secured loan at 5.064% and the mortgage is at 1.49% both trackers and the only way is up. So i need to join in, stay focussed and grab every spare and earned penny i can.

A question about : Freedom At 50!

Hi! I turn 50 in 8 years time and I have decided along with my wife that we want to be mortgage free, debt free and free to choose what we want to do from there.

We have had a long journey house/work/finance wise to get were we are now, but need to consolidate and go on further and we may need advice/help/ideas to achieve this goal.

A question about : Would love to be mortgage free ...

Hi all,
we've been in our house for 20 years ..... but kids, caravans, house extensions, life generally has stopped us from paying off the mortgage.
We are on an excellent mortgage rate at the moment, couldn't possibly beat it I doubt, 0.79% tracker for life.....

I think we owe about Ј65,000 as of now. It's coming down .... was Ј88K in 2011 ....

Repayments are fairly low, Ј440 pcm. I guess making overpayments is the way forward.

I thought it was about time I joined you all! Erm, technically I'm still a mortgage wannabe (despite coming agonisingly close to buying several months ago), life's changed a bit since then (will get to that in a moment!), but I hope it's ok to join in with all the fun and games as I head in the same direction as your lovely selves.

A question about : So now I have a plan! Reduce Ј10,000 in 18 months?

Ok so I have previously posted under the thread ....Ending 2013 with 336 payments to go.

However, I have started a new thread as I have changed goals. I have made a plan to reduce my mortgage by Ј10,000 by the end of Dec 2015!
