A question about : Advertisng scam help

I recieved a call this Morning from a Manchester based debt recovery company. He claims I verbally agreed to take out some adverts with three different companies.

When I told him I hadn't and had recieved no invoices, he said it was done verbally over the phone and basically wanted paying.

I then said I wouldn't be paying and they could take me to court. He then said it wouldn't go to court and he was going to get a warrant of execution and to expect debt collectors.

I’ve been working really hard to improve my credit score and have managed to double it (yes it really was that low!) since the beginning of the year.

I check my credit score fairly regularly, and found a default from Vodafone dated the beginning of this month that was actually settled months ago.

A question about : Settling Debt

Having come into some money through the sudden death of a family member, i would like to use this to attempt to clear debt i currently have with 3 creditors.

There isnt quite enough there to cover the debt completely but after talking to a work colleague, he has advised me to call them and make an offer of as much as i can in return for them clearing the remainder and closing the account.

Is this possible?
Or am i being a littl niave?

I've only ever lived with my parents at two different address's since the age of 10. I've never been in debt or paid any official bills (Always paid parents etc)

Will try and keep this short!

I was a student between 1993 and 1997 and had an HSBC account which was overdrawn by around Ј1000 when I left. I used it for a while after but then stopped using it and consistently repaid amounts every month that were more than the initerest they charged to make sure the balance was coming down.

A question about : "unexpected" court fine

I've been reading through some posts on this forum, but unfortunately none seem to match my situation.

Yesterday I received a letter to my address from the London North West and North Courts titled Further Steps Notice and stating that I owed Ј700 and I had failed to make payment as directed. I have no idea what this is about. I have no unpaid penalties that I know of, nor I have had any offence on the teritorry of he London North West and North Courts or elsewhere.

In August 2010 I took out a new phone contract for my then boyfriend in myname as he wasn't working. (Stupid I know!)
