A question about : Credit score

I’ve been working really hard to improve my credit score and have managed to double it (yes it really was that low!) since the beginning of the year.

I check my credit score fairly regularly, and found a default from Vodafone dated the beginning of this month that was actually settled months ago.

I contacted Vodafone via their online chat (as I was on my lunch break at work, so difficult to speak), and the operator I spoke to said the default was an error, and confirmed it was settled months before and was an error. I asked when this would be removed, they said by the end of the month. I couldn’t help but feel nothing would be done, so I asked them what the process was for removing defaults, which they admitted they didn’t know!! They just said it would be removed by the end of the month and to contact them again via the chat box if it hadn’t.

I’ve just checked now (even though it’s not quite the end of the month!) and its still there. But I have a feeling this could drag on with them just telling me to wait until the end of the month again. I have the original chat saved just incase they backtrack, but does anyone have any advice??

Best answers:

  • You can also go directly to the credit reference agency and ask them to remove it.
Have you checked with all 3 credit reference agencies.
  • Hi rainbowdust33, thank you for your query regarding credit score.
I would suggest you write a complaint to Vodafone stating what has happened and that it was agreed on your online chat that the default would be removed but it has not been done and it is affecting your ability to get credit. It is very important that you send the letter recorded delivery and keep a copy and if they do not respond or you are unhappy with their response you can take the complaint to the ombudsman service- communications. You can find more information about writing a complaint at www.adviceguide.org.uk.
    Hope this is of assistance.
