12 Year Money Advice

A question about : 12 Year Money Advice

Hi everyone

Hoping someone can help us ...

My husband has been in the Army for 7years now ... He would stay in forever but we have come to a decision as a family that we need to start sorting our lives out for 'coming out' .. working out when the best time to do it will be and when we should be in the strongest position, Now I am aware that the strongest position we could be in would be him serving a full 22 years and have a full Army pension for the future but thats not what either of us have in mind!

Microsoft Office 2010 Discount for UK Armed Forces

A question about : Microsoft Office 2010 Discount for UK Armed Forces

I hope someone on here may be able to help. There was a discount available for Microsoft Office Software for members of the UK Armed Forces but I can't seem to find it. Is there one running currently as it appears to be only for US Forces.
Many thanks!

Forces Help to Buy & tax implications

A question about : Forces Help to Buy & tax implications

I have been working out a budget in order for us to buy our own home using the new forces help to buy scheme.

The document communicated from the MOD contains a calculator which enables you to work out any tax changes that loaning the money will have. I cannot make head nor tail of it. I've contacted the AFF and the NEM teams and they don't know how it works. We were looking to borrow between 15-20k.

Old Boys! Have you claimed your pension??

A question about : Old Boys! Have you claimed your pension??

A few years ago I helped out the FIL who was a Veteran of the RN.

He had left the RN in 1978 but didn't realise that when he reached 60yrs old he was entitled to claim a Forces Pension. They won't come looking for you, if you don't claim it, you won't get it.

He is no speedy bullet, but isn't without his faculties either. If he didn't realise, there must be others out there who are unaware of their entitlement too.
