A question about : Kaupthing Edge, Should I Avoid?

After reading Martins savings article I am tempted to transfer some money into this account, however some friends have advised me not to. Should I avoid this account or are my friends overreacting?

A question about : Standard Life windfall news

ABC Money

Tuesday 18th April is the day investors will learn their share allocation and also a price range that the board expects.

At the moment the press - presumably following Standard Life's lead - are keeping expectations low, to the point where the Maths wouldn't get past a Key Stage 3 standard.

ABC repeats the usual low windfall mantra (Ј500-Ј1000) to 2.4m members and says that Standard only expeced to raise Ј1 billion in a flotation expected to be worth Ј4bn-Ј6bn.

What this is all about?

The Barclay's Monthly Saver had a fixed rate of 7.75% for ALL people whose first payment cleared in December 2008. Yet even though we'd had confirmation of this, as the rate changed on Barclay's website on 1 December to say 6%, there's been a lot of confusion in branches.

A question about : What's happened to my portfolio in the last 2 weeks?!

Not sure whether I've been very unlucky or there's been a bit of a slump in the last couple of weeks...but regardless pretty annoyed at losing Ј200+ off my previously Ј6k portfolio. I've endured a pretty tight month so I could hit the Ј6k mark this month....only to see half of what I put in get wiped off! It's basically wiped off the earnings above cost since I started investing in Feb.

A question about : Northern Rock,new account.

Anyone heard of a new account due to be launched tomorrow from Northern Rock at a fixed rate of 6.9% that you can actually withdraw from and no penalty? However you cannot add to the initial deposit?

Just read it on another forum.Does anyone know whether you can get advance info like this,or could it be a wind up?

If true i shall hold off tying my money up with Bradford and Bingley!!

A question about : Investing in Friends Provident Summit

I am considering investing Ј40,000 in this bond across 10 mirror funds - does anyone have any advice about this? I am British but not resident in the UK and so unable to invest there.
Any comments/advice very welcome.
