BT Basic Line Rental: Get a landline for Ј4.50/month

A question about : BT Basic Line Rental: Get a landline for Ј4.50/month

What's this about?

BT has recently launched a new social tariff, BT Basic, aimed at cutting the costs for those on certain benefits. It costs £4.50/month (compared to the usual £10.50/month line rental). This gives you line rental and includes £1.50 worth of calls each month. If you're eligible this can be a serious saving.

This tariff will eventually replace its Light User and In Contact Plus schemes.

Who's eligible?

Great 'Best Cold Caller Rebukes' Hunt

A question about : Great 'Best Cold Caller Rebukes' Hunt

The phone rings, you pick it up and UGH, it's a cold calling telemarketer trying to flog you a new mobile, camera, subscription or even wipe your debts. Even if you put the phone down they'll try again. Of course signing up to the telephone preference service helps stop the legal callers (see stop junk calls guide), but calls can still come - what are your top tips for getting rid of 'em?

A question about : The SayNoTo0870 Article Discussion Area

We always phone 0870 numbers on our mobiles - they are included in the inclusive calls on most O2 monthly plans (and orange OVP O2 plans), so we get a mobile deal (with full cashback) each year just to use for this purpose. This works for 0845 numbers too, but not 0871.

Talk Talk Complaints

A question about : Talk Talk Complaints

Hello all, this is my first serious post ever on the site, but I have been a regular reader for a couple of years now...and have the £2 coin money box going well.

I have had a nightmare experience with TalkTalk during our recent house move. Nobody on their so called 'customer service' seems to be able to give me a name and/or address for customer complaints. All I have been told is to send a letter to Head Office! So any help with finding a more specific place to address a letter of complaint would be appreciated.

BT complaints

A question about : BT complaints

We've had an order for a new line ongoing since 31st March for a new block of flats. We, along with the rest of the block (including the developers who are waiting for a lift emergency phone) can get no satsifaction from BT who claim their contractors have not done the work, not finished the work, can't do the work etc etc.

We have now been given an estimated date for completion of 31st May (ie 2 months after ordering).

New Talktalk poll; feedback needed, good and bad

A question about : New Talktalk poll; feedback needed, good and bad

What's this all about?

TalkTalk's 'free broadband' package took the market by storm and on paper is a clear winner on price (see Cheapest Home Phones article). Initially customer feedback was very strong, but by July and August reports were coming through that it couldn't cope with capacity - and many users are stuck without broadband.
