A question about : Need to sell quickly... Advice?

I was recently made redundant and I now need to downsize my property, in order to reduce outgoings. Our house has been up for sale for a few weeks but there's been very little interest. It's a four bed in a very desirable area, but the market for this price bracket/house size appears to be a little quiet (even though we've priced it below the current market price).

say on average when you wanna buy a house what would you offer for it? say for example 200k
would a offer of 195 be reasonable? or would you try for more?? i know there are many factors that come into play but just say on the average

A question about : Preparing for moving day. Any moneysaving tips?

I've finally got my date for moving!

Apart from the obvious such as notifying the utility companies and everyone that has my address - what else can I be doing in preparation which will save money?

So far, I've sorted my house insurance and am ploughing thru the list of people to change my address with. I'm gradually de-cluttering and either selling, donating or binning stuff no longer needed.

A question about : How to buy-to-let with my mum (for my sister!)??

My mum is buying a flat in Surry for my sister to rent from her. She can get an 85% mortgage to do this. I want to provide the other 15% of the purchase price by extending the mortgage on my own house. The rent will be shared in the same proportions.

Is this possible? Should my mum buy the house and I just give her my share - and we draw up an agreement that when the house is sold I get 15%?

I'm a first time buyer, and am looking to buy in a sought after location as I commute to London.

I have seen a house that seems to be relatively cheap for the area, is within walking distance (just - about 1500m) from the mainline station.

The house is up at Ј189.950 but the agent has let it bew known that the buyer wants rid of it quickly. The house is emptied of furnishings.

I can assume the following:

1 - As a FTB I have an advantage if the buyer wants rid of it quickly.

I'm getting a divorce and need to rehouse myself and son, but there might not be enough money in the pot to buy us a new home :-[.

I'm researching all options to get us somewhere new to live and would be grateful for any input.
