A question about : Putting Stuff in Storage

We are about to take on a "project" house (a.k.a. a dump with potential) and will need to put most of our furniture and other stuff into storage while we tear up floors and knock down walls.

Any suggestions for cheap options? Any experience of the self-store companies?

Do any of you guys know anything about this scheme?

Basically, my partner and I are moving from Liverpool to Essex - she's taking up a permanent teaching position in Basildon.

Our combined salaries are Ј45,000 - we're looking to buy an apartment for around Ј140,000 - Ј160,000.

From the Moat webiste we appear to be eligible for an equity loan but do you know the figures involved? How much might we me able to get as an equity loan from the figures I've provided here?

After looking at house prices in the area we want to stay in, it looks impossible for us to get anything better at a price we can afford. So I am tentatively researching the possibility that we could build a small extension on the side of our house to use as a study/playroom. Has anyone done something similar? Will it add value? Where do I start with the whole process? All hints, tips and money saving ideas welcome?

A question about : Entitlement to own flat?

My sister is 30 and lives at my parents with her 5 year old daughter in the same room. My other sister also lives there. It's a 3 bedroom house so the parents have one room, younger sister in another room and older sister with child in the 3rd room.

She wants to know if she would be entitled to her own flat as we have heard of one that's available to rent nearby and has two bedrooms and the landlord will accept housing benefit.
