Solar Power on a Budget

A question about : Solar Power on a Budget

Hi,

I am looking to get solar on my house but want to spend as little as possible on it.

What is the least I can spend with a trustworthy firm to have solar installed?

Thanks.

Grants for renewable energy: first come first served

A question about : Grants for renewable energy: first come first served

From the 24th April householders will be able to register their interest in applying for new renewable energy grants from the DTI. Housholders will be able to apply for grants to part cover the cost of solar panels, biomass (that's wood burning stoves to you and me), wind turbines as well as other renewable energy technology such as ground source heat pumps and air source heat pumps.

Does anyone here have an ideological objection to Solar?

A question about : Does anyone here have an ideological objection to Solar?

EDIT: This thread has been hijacked by discussions about the administration of the FiT and its efficiency in encouraging renewables. It's no longer all that helpful for a consumer trying to make a decision on whether renewable technologies are suitable for their home or business. I have started another thread: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/....php?t=4326665 which attempts to cover what i originally intended for this one.

Disposing of white goods that need repair

A question about : Disposing of white goods that need repair

    Hi

I've got a fridge freezer and a washing machine which need repair but are still useable, so I wasn't sure if I should freecycle them.

As I don't drive, I can't take them down to a recycling centre though I have the option to have the council collect them for Ј10. I'd really like to see them put to good use rather than scrapped, is there any organisations that will collect, repair and re-distribute?

I'm in the Bolton area BTW title=Smile

    Solar PV Feed In Tariffs

A question about : Solar PV Feed In Tariffs

As virtually every other thread on the subject of Solar PV goes off topic and ends up with a discussion about whether the feed in tariffs are a good or bad idea, or even if solar PV (or renewables in general) are a good or bad idea, I have started this new thread.

Maybe then all other threads can be left to those people who have Solar PV, or are thinking of installing Solar PV, and need advice / help from like minded people.

So, who wants to start the for/against argument?

    Hi everyone,

If you've seen a thread on another board recently that you think would be ideal to be moved to this one can you reply underneath with the link?
