A question about : Sick Pay / Holiday Pay Questions

Hi All,

I'm asking for some help on behalf of a good friend.

He has been ill for the last couple of days and because his company doesn't pay him any sick pay, he has had to take 2 days annual leave rather than lose money.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal/right/legal?

It seems awful that he has to use his holiday allocation just because he is ill.

A question about : Both unemployed

My wife and I are both in our fifties and we are now unemployed. We have negligible savings and with the money in our bank a/c about enough to keep us going until the end of March (including paying that mortgage). Our mortgage is around Ј700 per month and as we are around three years from the end of it, we are paying off virtually no interest, only principal sum.

hello all

i was made redundant about 6 months ago from my marketing role. i decided that it would be easier to find another post if i said i was still working to prospective employers (yes, i already know it was foolish and stupid, but thats what i did). my old employer, being a small business had no problem with this re references etc.

I'm in a Catch 22 situation.
At the moment I'm off work with depression and stress. I'm a Teaching Assistant in a school, and was given an autistic child to look after for 6 hours a day 5 days a week. He is a sweet child, but has various special needs and behaviour problems, and I am not trained to deal with them.
I asked for help and didn't get it, so in the end I cracked under the strain.
My Union Unison has got involved and they are doing the best they can, but nothing seems to be happening.
