I fully expected to already find a thread like this here and wanted to join in but haven't seemed to find one (if I'm wrong please let me know).

There are debt free diaries, there's a big daily OS thread, why not have one for those of us looking for work? It can be demoralising and I figure it might help to keep us going.

It was going to be a matter of time but new vacancies are up nationwide for you lovely people looking to work for the DWP (in Jobcentres no less) and they're on permanent contracts which is a big plus in this current climate of casual, temporary and fixed-term uncertainty.

A question about : Joke Management

Hi all,

I helped a colleague return to work a few weeks ago.

I worked out-of-hours to do this. I phoned him loads of times, texted him and sent emails.

I even agreed with management that I would manage his work for a few weeks even though it was not my job to do this. I provided mentoring and coaching to him when he returned.

Amazed and disappointed that my management refused to compensate me for my phone costs or to give me any time off work.

A question about : i think my manager is being a bit unreasonable

recently started a apprenticeship at a branch of a large automotive chain as a apprentice mechanic, at first everything was brilliant, loved it. but over the past two weeks my manager has been a bit funny with me and I have no clue as to why.

A question about : Is this 1 or 2 periods of sickness?

My friend has been diagnosed with an eye condition which requires operations on both eyes with a gap of 8-10 weeks between the ops.

Now after the first operation, she should be fit for work after 1.5 weeks off post op.

The reason both eyes cannot be operated on at the same time as the first 5-7 days she would see very little plus all eye surgeons do this practice.

A question about : apprenticeship

my 18 year old son has been offered a four year apprenticeship with an established painter and decorator firm.they are prepared to put him through college and gain on site experience.my concern is they want me to fund my son to the sum of Ј5000 up front.i have never heard of this before .should we get involved.any advice would be appreciated
