A question about : Yet another shocking data breach from a PPC

This time it is PayMyPCN who have left their database wide open.

Cant paste links a newbie but it is on Sky News Website and I suspect most news website soon.

It seems similar to the UKPC farce a couple of years ago. They were keeping the DVLA data link secure with the password 'password'.

Best answers:

A security flaw in a private parking firm's website allows public access to names, addresses, photographs and emails
  • It's far from the only PPC database that is wide open to those who know how to look. Like everything about PPC's, their IT is shoddy and unprofessional.
  • "A DVLA spokeswoman said: 'This is not a DVLA error. We take our duty to safeguard data very seriously and we will not compromise data security. 'DVLA does not hold or provide data such as photographs, emails and phone numbers to private parking companies.' "
Errr .... but YOU sold some of the data available via the link. So DVLA, you are lying, and you are as corrupt as the parking companies you sell OUR data to. Your mealy mouthed spokesperson can say whatever they like, the FACT is that you sell our data to unsecure, corrupt sources.
  • Who owns UKCPM and where can I get hold of his or her address?
  • Surely this is worth a MASSIVE fine from the ICO for such flagrant breach of data protection rules. Nice to see the DVLA wash its hands of the problem. Are they going to stop releasing RK details until they are sure that the data is not being made available to all and sundry? Considering how utterly corrupt the DVLA is, and how they blithely flout the law day in and day out, I doubt it.
