Having read through all of the disastrous overpayment options, let me tell you the one about the Child Support Agency - another Government Department. My ex-husband currently owes me over Ј2000 of child maintenance that he just refused to pay. The CSA have said that he can pay it off at Ј10 per month for THE NEXT SEVENTEEN YEARS. My son will be 26 years of age by then.

If the CSA can offer 17 year interest free loans, then why can't another Government Dept, ie the WTC office, do the same?

• its a complete farce isnt it.. my ex pays nothing for our son and according to the CSA only earns less the Ј100 a week.. not bad for someone with a car, van and a Ј120k mortgage huh??

• Absolutely useless - my daughter's just left college so the CSA have reassessed her dad's payments. He has nearly Ј8000 in arrears and he can pay at Ј20 per week for the next 8 years. She'll be 26 by then!! I don't think he'll pay though, he'll leave his job and it wont be worth the hassle trying to get the CSA to chase him - it takes years. Still I suppose thats better than Ј10 per month.(I must try to be more grateful and less bitter!)

• i too saw my MP who was very helpful in getting my case reviewed and getting some action.. this resulted in ex being taken to court but before he got there he got re-asssessed down to Ј5 a week due to his low (cough) earnings
  i asked them to investigate his earnings and the case has been sent to the inconsistent lifestyle or something dept... but its been there for over a year and nothing has been done... i spose i should get my MP to intervene again
  it shouldnt take that tho should it??... i mean these men have had the use of the money for years when u havent so why should they get off scott free and not even pay any interest
