A question about : Wren Kitchens

UPDATE 29/03/13:

Since posting this I received a phone call on the 22nd Feb 13 (2 years after I sent an e-mail of complaint).

The call was from Wren Kitchens who wanted to come and look at my kitchen.

They came, they saw and they have now rectified all faults and installed new additions and I now have a beautiful kitchen to be proud of.

Thank you WREN I am delighted with the result.

Hi, I'm hoping someone here could advise me what, if anything I can do
about a situation regarding having a kitchen installed.

The company is Wren Kitchens, of whom I had purchased one of their
showroom kitchens to have installed in early July. As of today, the 2nd September
it has finally been completed.

The kitchen itself was installed during the 2nd week of July 2011 or rather the
majority of it was - upon completion I noticed 2 doors which had been
fitted had chips on them so I contacted Wren who said that they would send replacements.

However when the replacements arrived only one was OK, the other one was the wrong size entirely!

I again contacted Wren who said they would order another. They ordered another two.
When they finally arrived on the 6th August I went to collect them from the store. At home I realised
that they had not included the raw plugs and could not be fitted by us.

The 2nd, and larger issue at hand is the kitchen hob extractor fan which
did not work from day one! Wren were contacted about this and they said they would send
out an Engineer. He arrived a few days later and advised us that it was faulty and had
been installed that way.

He said he could repair it but as it was new we should request a replacement. He was disgusted
that it had been installed.

Finally, the original kitchen fitter arrived this morning (2nd Sept) with the replacement extractor fan and installed it together with the
kitchen cupboard doors.

This has been a total nightmare, I have had to use my holiday entitlement and its been an endless case of
We will call you back although low and behold the phone never rang or when it did
they were completely outdated with the information (such as they called
us to say - after 4 weeks - the extractor fan was ready for collection
even when we had requested a re-installation by the original fitter).

I'm curious if I have any rights to compensation of some kind
as the main component of the kitchen did not function from day one and
has caused endless stress to me and time off work (for example having to
wait in all day for items to be delivered) which did not arrive.

I would be wholely disappointed if a company can behave like this towards its customers
without any consequence - especially with such large amounts of money
being spent on the product!

Thanks guys.. any suggestions or help would be appreciated greatly. title=Smile

  • Have you suffered any financial loss?
  • DONT BUY FROM WREN. Simple if anyone else reads this do not buy!!! They are a cowboy outfit formed from the remains of MFI with same crap staff and same crap managment even half the old buildings. You only have to go onto this site to read bad review after bad review
  • Spent over Ј7500 has been a nightmare from start to finish, our saleman was sacked before our kitchen even arrived,he got all his kitchens orders wrong(including ours) then the installation manageress left then the showroom manager left.
Kitchen should have been completed in May ,but were still having problems now.
They are due me a refund of nearly Ј200 for parts they took back that were wrong. They keep promising that it will be credited back to my card , just spoke to my credit card company and it still hasn't weeks later.
I shall be phoning their new manager in the morning.
I reget the day my wife and myself walked into their showroom ,and if I could turn back time I would never have!
  • Bought kitchen from WREN back in may and delivered june. Items sent wrong and damaged some have now been returned 3 times.
The units are badly made and the doors are coming apart where glued at the joins - should "solid oak doors" have joins glued all over?? I was told by WREN customer service (when finally get to speak to someone) that its due to dampness in my house. There is no damp - my home is at a constant temperature for our sons health. And surely QUALITY units are made to withstand some varying changes to air!!!! Perhaps they have damp at their warehouse ??? as I ve heard
The oak worktops are unlevel and thicker at one side than other and sink wont sit flush WREN blamed my fitter - an experienced (30 yr) kitchen fitter who said its the worst quality kitchen he d ever seen - and likened it to old MFI units!!! lo and behold I now discover it is MFI kitchen just new name. See BBC watchdog and 1000s of angry customers on internet!!! The painted solid oak is a laugh - it is only as if primed. So I am now in dispute with WREN along with it seems half their customers.
My husband and I are now at loggerheads as I chose to buy to save money but as he says " you pay ale prices you cant expect fine wine" But I dont expect water!!!
Bottom line DONT BUY FROM WREN unless of course you like mfi standard goods
PS been looking on there Facebook site for several weeks - all the bad posts and comments seem to dissappear overnight!!!
  • lol, bad service and you give customers a national rate number to call, nice!
  • 08715285090 doesn't return any alternative results at saynoto0870. Looking for Wren Kitchens gives:
    Code:
  • So who else here wouldn't trust a phone number offered by some total random on an internet forum? Certainly not for providing any account or identifiable information.
  • think ill post that number on free ads, world cup final tickets and flights only Ј30! Should keep them busy for a few days
  • Just wanted to add my comments re Wren Kitchens. We arranged delivery of our new kitchen several weeks ago. Just over half of the delivery arrived on the day and some the week after following lots of aggravating phone calls. I agree with earlier posts that the customer services department is hopeless - very annoying to be passed from this department to the store and back again. We finally (think) we have all the items we ordered now and were finally given a free end panel and a promised Ј150 as compensation...oh and a free cup?! - One of the doors is also damaged and we have been told this will be replaced. I must admit the staff at the store in Bolton have tried to put things right quickly and been very apologetic - the 'customer service' staff couldn't care less and have repeatedly failed to return calls or action anything correctly.
Prior to this, the design service etc in store was good and we're pleased with the actual kitchen- just be cautious about the delivery and aftersales - you could be in for a stressful time.
  • Do not buy from wren!
  • As I have already stated,I have been waiting for a refund of nearly Ј200.00.
My Wrens Kitchen was a disaster from start to finish,I have not asked for compensation, only for them to return what I am owed.
If it is not back in my bank by the end of this week I will let my credit card company recover it for me.
I will then come back on and list every mistake that Wrens caused while supplying and fitting my kitchen.
My complaints would make over complaints already on here sound trivial
  • Just wanted to add to the general negativity surrounding Wren! I agree that the kitchens are actually good quality and look lovely - it is the customer service that just ruins the whole experience. We had some panels missing from our kitchen and it took a couple of months to get them in!
I can't count how many times I had to chase them up just to be told "Ooh, you were next on my list to call." Yeah, right.
They're also now refusing to pay my kitchen fitter for the extra bits he had to do because of their incompetence. It's shocking. I asked for and received 10% of the entire purchase price back as compensation. I wish I'd asked for more now! They still haven't finished and the installation was started on 23rd August.
I do finally (almost) have a beautiful kitchen, but the stress was just not worth it. Do yourself a favour: go for a smaller, local company and pay a little bit more. It'll be worth it in the long run!
  • I have bought a kitchen from Wrens and had them fit it. All i can say is that it has been a nightmare from start to finish. They sent wrong size units, units that had been promised to a certain size did not materialise and lots of items werent even sent. The installation began 5 weeks ago and I am still without any filters for my cooker hood, a part of the cooker hood has not even been installed, the splashback is still in my conservatory and part of the skirting is still not fitted into place.
Wrens after care service is the worst i have ever encountered. When parts were missing we were given the number of the suppliers and told to contact them ourselves! The kitchen designer, who promised so much, now no longer even works for the company! The Store Manager has offered no apology and in fact has been rude rather than helpful. We paid over Ј7000 for a kitchen that is incomplete and no one in the company gives a damn. I am the manager of a large retail outlet and if I conducted business in the manner that this company does, I would expect to be closing the doors sooner rather than later.
For anyone looking for a new kitchen, if you do use Wrens, get your own fitters, dont entertain theirs. They actually do a very good fit if Im being honest, they just dont finish it! Their fitters dont return your calls and regard a job finished when it is far from complete.
How I wish I had checked this site before parting with my hard earned money to Wrens. The guarantee they give you is not worth the paper it is printed on.
  • Armando - please read https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/sit...aqs#companyrep
OP - please be careful before responding, this could be anyone pretending to be from Wrens.
  • You know which button to press guys
  • I think it's only fair to give 2 different sides of the story and from personal experience I have only good to say about Wren Kitchens. I had a kitchen designed from their Orpington showroom, the kitchen is fantastic quality (also agreed by my fitter) looks great and the customer service although not perfect was not bad at all. I also know two other people who have bought their kitchens from wren with no problem at all, we're all really pleased, I think you must be a minority.
  • seriously.........how thick do you think people are ???
  • And you mean what exactly?
