A question about : WiFi

Hi,
I have a Sky Sagem router which is connected to a computer in room 1, by cable.
Want to buy a smart TV on room 2. This would mean 30 + feet of cable.
What I need ? is a WiFi router ?? that would do the job of the computer and the TV - yes ?

Will Sky give me one on demand, or charge me.

Thanks for your help

Best answers:

  • Your Sky Sagem router - isn't this WiFi?
In this case, if you buy a Smart TV with WiFi, you can connect it to the router wirelessly to the internet. Your TV will not do the job of a computer, no. Sky's On Demand is free for subscribers. You'll not get it on the Smart TV though, you get it through a Sky box. You can get a WiFi Sky box and put it in room 2 along with the TV.
  • OK so my router IS wifi. So without a lead, I can use the computer on the TV screen - yes ?
"You can get a WiFi Sky box and put it in room 2 along with the TV." - why, if the router is wifi. The signal goes through walls,, doesn't it ?
  • Because if your TV does not have Wifi capabilities then you will need either a Wifi dongle or a Wifi bridge.
  • castle96 - no - you cannot connect a TV to a computer via WiFi.
You cannot connect a Sky box to a TV via WiFi.
You connect the Sky box, and the computer, to the router via WiFi (or cable), and connect the Sky box and the computer to the TV via cables (preferably HDMI).
