A question about : Which company to use for new build snagging survey?

Just going through the motions of purchasing a shared ownership new build flat, and from what I've read it can often be useful to arrange a snagging survey. We're quite clueless, having never bought any property before, but were wondering if anybody had any recommendations?

The only company I've really seen from Google searches is https://www.newbuildinspections.com/. Has anybody used them, and/or have any other suggestions?

Thanks.

  • Any good independent, local Surveyor should be able to carry out a snagging inspection. Where are you based as I may be able to make some recomendations?
  • I used the snagging guide from https://www.snagging.org/snagging-guide/ - I think it cost a tenner. Did it all myself. Found 45 items on the list!
  • Do it yourself! At least you'll know you've looked at everything thoroughly. I did mine myself, over 200 of the blasted snags!
  • I did mine myself it was just a case of looking at the paintwork and opening and closing the windows, doors and kitchen cupboard doors, turning the taps on and off and locking and unlocking the the doors and windows. I have moved in now and have found more snags which only become apparent after things have been used like leaks from the bath and dishwasher. I fixed the dishwasher as something needed tightening and the building company came and fixed the bath.
If you look on google you can download free snagging checklists to help you. I printed one off but didn't use it, the snags were obvious when I was there.
